Developer VS Publisher

Tulisan yang cukup menarik dari blog nya Dragonica.

Dalam note ini ingin diterangkan perbedaan mendasar antara PUBLISHER dan DEVELOPER

DEVELOPER adalah perusahaan atau individu yang MEMBUAT game/program. Mereka yang mengerti secara teknis seluk beluk dari bug/error/cheat dan sebagainya.

PUBLISHER adalah perusahaan atau individu yang MEMASARKAN game/program. Mereka biasanya kurang paham mengenai teknis dan seluk beluk dari bug/error/cheat.

Biasanya jika PUBLISHER menerima e-mail dari pemain/gamer mengenai bug/error/cheat maka mereka akan mengumpulkan semua lalu dikirimkan kepada DEVELOPER untuk ditindak lanjuti. Prosesnya bisa berlangsung cepat ataupun lama tergantung dari DEVELOPERnya.

Lalu ada GM yang khusus mengurusi game itu sendiri. GM memang memiliki priviledge khusus didalam game yang itu juga terbatas akan hal-hal tertentu saja… dan bisa dipastikan juga fungsi GM untuk memfasilitasi ide, masukan, error, bug, cheat dari user yang kemudian diteruskan juga ke pihak DEVELOPER untuk ditindak lanjuti.

Untuk para gamer harap dimengerti perbedaan mendasar ini… karena PUBLISHER memang posisinya ada di tengah-tengah antara gamer dengan DEVELOPER.
